SCT Concussion Policy

A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, creating chemical changes in the brain and sometimes stretching and damaging brain cells (CDC, 2019).

HEAD INJURY PROTOCOL:
If a head injury occurs or is suspected: The athlete will be removed from play and a signed medical clearance provided by a provider of health care with training in the evaluation and management of concussions (i.e. licensed physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and advanced practice registered nurses) is required before returning to SCT activities.

Our philosophy

SCT uses a holistic methodology to mitigate risks: training sessions are specifically designed to guide athletes in developing technique and strength over the course of months and years.
